Benoir Birunji
Originally from Uganda, Benoir Birunji is an inherently gifted new
generation writer, actor and linguist whose illuminative productions
exhibit hip weavings of traditional storytelling and avant garde theatre.
Benoir's work employs satire, charismatic stage presence and a mastery
of words to penetrate the divisive sociopolitical concepts of tribe, gender,
race and class.

Birunji’s career has taken him from an appearance at The Kennedy
Center to tours of India, Europe, the United States and Canada. His
multicultural cast of characters has always been a reflection of his
diverse audiences and issues tackled. His first production Song of
Katabazi dealt with the tribal politics that precipitated the Rwanda
genocide. His next play Prudence explored the issues of Western wealth,
and charity to Africa. Green Paper, a stand up theatre style comedy
chronicles an African’s struggle for sanity in the crazy urban jungles of
the Diasporas.

Currently Birunji is working on The Inauguration, a political satire about
the grim state of African politics. In addition he is developing a couple of
screenplays for Bantu Films, Africa’s premiere film production company.
