| Having a design that is original and also represents your organization accurately is always important when considering the look and style of a logo. As Feenix Films explored potential new designs it wanted a look that represented where we had been, some of the experiences we had, and where we were going. Feenix Films commissioned two artists to work on the logo. Meghan McGrath to design a concept logo which we could spring off from and inspire Bliss Franklin in designing our opening animation and final design. What you see below is some absolutely beautiful artwork done by the very talented Ms. McGrath and ultimately the transformation it underwent as the very talented Ms. Franklin created an animation that brought us to our final result. Different people working towards the same goal is something the Arts can excel in. The creation of this logo shows a design that is a beautiful example of input from Feenix Films, Meghan McGrath, and Bliss Franklin. Supporting collaboration like this is part of the Feenix Films Mission statement. Showcasing the hard work that went into this design is a part of our focus and something we were excited to show you! | Ms. McGrath had been asked to change the shape of certain elements of the design and used the following approach to keep what had worked but change the areas requested. |
This design was ultimately used for some promotional items before the final logo was done. It also was shown to Ms. Franklin to demonstrate the points Feenix wanted emphasized in the logo. The silouette in the background, the sharpness of the features from Ms. McGrath's concept work, and the style of the font with the incorporated flames.
Due to the necessity of animation the logo began a process of being simplified while still keeping the edge and "feel" of the original concept drawings done by Ms. McGrath.
To set up several concepts for Bliss Franklin to animate from, Feenix Films worked on different approaches to the design, adding some elements and altering other. The concept designs had helped the company move towards some final approaches in the development of the new look and vibe of the logo.
Once the specifics had been set. Ms. McGrath finished the design to the requested colors adding the black background, changing the head, and also altering a few other areas.
Here we see the progression of the design by Ms. McGrath. As the wings open the Feenix bird breaks the constraints (restraints) of the status quo and it begins to take form.
This was a concept of what we wanted the animation to start as. The Feenix bird is bound by the constraints of the established film business (the film strip represents chains and the status quo).
This logo pulls elements from each of the previously styled and altered logos incorporating the sharpness of the design, the blue rays of light from all previous designs shown, and the text style.
